A former solider from Manchester has been put in touch with his old army mates thanks to the efforts of the Ex-Forces Action Network (E-FAN). Now, he has been presented with framed photos of them by E-FAN.
Rick McGillivray, a former Lancashire Fusilier between 1984 and 1989, launched a campaign to hear from his former mates on social media sites.
Rick said: “I am delighted to hear from my old chums and having these photos is a real bonus.”
Last Christmas Rick was sleeping on a park bench but he now has a permanent address thanks to E-FAN and other welfare partners. He was suffering from anxiety, depression and alcohol issues.
Isaac Smith, his probation officer, said: “Rick has come such a long way since last Christmas and I am pleased that he has been able to renew old friendships.”
